FUNCTION: The Medical Records/Health Information Coordinator assumes, responsibility and accountability for the record keeping procedures and storage of all clinical records, in a manner consistent with community policies and procedures, professional standards and state and federal laws and regulations for long term care facilities. Establishes and implements policies to ensure that records are complete, accurately documented, readily accessible and systematically organized. Collaborates with Administrator or Director of Nursing to allocate department resources in an efficient and economic manner to achieve department objectives. QUALIFICATIONS: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Minimum Qualifications: Education and/or Experience: High school or equivalent is required. A background in the use of computerized systems is preferred. Excellent typing, communication and time management skills are essential. Ability to move from one task to another effectively. Proven ability to work effectively in a changing environment. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define and solve problems collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret and extensive variety of technical instructions in statistical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
