Job Description

Classification Title:

Clinical Research Assistant

Job Description:

This full-time position is located in the Department of Physical Therapy, in the College of Public Health and Health Professions.

The incumbent will work with a team of personnel on a human research subject study of how people with pain conditions respond to exercise. The incumbent will interact with research participants, assist with survey completion, perform quantitative sensory testing, assess strength, and supervise exercise sessions for participants with and without pain conditions. Other duties will involve administrative tasks related to research participant screening and scheduling, data management, assisting with meetings/training sessions/conferences, maintaining documentation concerning study protocols and regulatory compliance.

The Mechanisms and Modification of Pain Modulatory Capacity project is overseen by Dr. Michael Robinson, a clinical and health psychologist (https://internal.medicine.ufl.edu/profile/robinson-michael/), and Dr. Mark Bishop, a physical therapist (https://pt.phhp.ufl.edu/profile/bishop-mark/). Both have extensive experience working with people who have chronic pain conditions.

The overarching goal of the project is to understand how a person’s own internal systems for inhibiting pain can be improved through interventions. The project works with people who do and do not have chronic pain conditions.
