Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Audio Engineer Intern to join our team and play a key role in producing high-quality audio for our podcast. This is an opportunity to work closely with our production team, ensuring that the audio content of Engineering Immortality meets the highest standards and delivers an engaging experience to our listeners.
Core Responsibilities:
• Audio Recording & Editing: Record, edit, and publish the audio for podcast episodes, ensuring clarity and quality.
• Audio Enhancement: Add music, intros, outros, and sound effects to increase listener engagement and maintain consistency across episodes.
• Studio Setup & Preparation: Arrive at the studio at least one hour before recording sessions to assist with equipment setup and audio testing.
• Microphone Testing & Optimization: Perform thorough testing of all microphone setups to avoid issues such as plosives, cut-offs, and audio distortion during recordings.
• Post-Production Audio Processing: Process and edit the RAW audio files to ensure professional-quality sound, balancing levels and minimising background noise.
• Clip Creation: Design engaging audio clips for podcast intros, outros, and promotional material.
• Collaborative Workflow: Work closely with the videographer and producer to ensure seamless handoffs and integration of audio into video content.
Other Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with Podcast Producer: Work closely with the Podcast Producer to understand and execute the audio vision for the podcast.
• Develop Audio Prototypes: Use tools like Pro Tools or Logic Pro to create prototypes demonstrating sound design concepts.
• Refine Audio Edits: Incorporate team and stakeholder feedback to enhance audio quality for an engaging listener experience.
• Research Audio Trends: Stay informed about current podcast audio trends and best practices to continuously improve the show.
• Document Audio Processes: Keep records of sound parameters, editing workflows, and production details for consistency across episodes.
• Implement Audio Design: Follow the Podcast Producer’s guidance to integrate sound elements effectively within podcasts.
• Create Audio Assets: Produce high-quality audio assets for various podcast segments such as intros, outros, and trailers.
• Ensure Audio Quality: Conduct final reviews of audio assets to guarantee proper integration and high standards in all podcast episodes.
• Gather Feedback: Actively seek feedback from team members and stakeholders to improve audio processes and final output.
• Master Audio Tools: Continuously develop and refine skills in using key audio editing software like Pro Tools, Audacity, and Adobe Audition.
Requirements:
• Experience with Audio Editing: Proven experience with audio editing and production, preferably in a podcast or broadcasting environment.
• Proficiency with Audio Software: Must be familiar with audio editing software (e.g., Pro Tools, Audacity, Adobe Audition) and comfortable learning new tools if necessary.
• Consistency & Commitment: Ability to commit to the podcast schedule, including arriving early to ensure proper setup and being available consistently over the next 3-6 months.
• Attention to Detail: Strong organisational skills to manage audio files, ensure consistent audio quality, and adhere to production timelines.
• Collaborative Team Player: Willingness to work closely with other team members, including videographers and producers, to create a high-quality final product.
Preferred Skills:
• Creative Sound Design: A creative touch in selecting and incorporating sound effects and music that enhance the podcast’s narrative and tone.
• Basic Knowledge of Audio Equipment: Familiarity with setting up and troubleshooting microphones, mixers, and other studio equipment.
