Within this setting, The Fred and Dinah Gretsch School of Music offers student-centered degree programs at the bachelor's and master's level. Our mission is to provide opportunities for studying and making music within the context of a liberal arts education; to prepare students for careers in music-related fields; to enhance the cultural life of the campuses and surrounding region and to contribute to the preservation and expansion of our rich musical tradition through performance, composition, education, research, and music industry. Students are mentored by a faculty of dedicated teacher-scholars, who are nationally and internationally knows in their fields of expertise.

Job Summary


Reporting to the department chair, the visiting instructor of Music Industry will fill the role of technology specialist within the faculty who teach in the Music Industry area. The visiting instructor will:

teach the equivalent of five courses per semester, managing the recording studio and music lab facilities and teaching courses that make use of both the studio and lab facilities.

teach applied music in their area of expertise.

assist with the teaching of the Music Theory sequence of courses, as well as Music Composition.

Required Qualifications


Earned Master's Degree in Music Industry, or a closely related field, by August 1, 2024.

A record of teaching and expertise in recording technology.

Ability to teach applied lessons in guitar or electric bass.

Willingness to engage with institutional student success initiatives.

Commitment to engaging with best practice initiatives in instruction and pedagogy, mentoring, and curriculum design and development.

Preferred Qualifications


Earned Doctorate in Music by August 1, 2024.

Extensive experience using Digital Audio Workstations.

Extensive experience using Finale Music Notation Software.

Three years of collegiate teaching experience.

Proposed Salary


Commensurate with experience.

This is an exempt position paid on a monthly basis.
