Team Description: Real Estate Credit Risk ensures the effective management and implementation and adherence to the credit risk management strategy for the Bank's and our clients' real estate portfolios. Our credit portfolio consists of multifamily, affordable housing, office, retail, industrial, mixed-use, and other commercial real estate located nationwide. Responsibilities: The VP, Commercial Real Estate Review Appraiser is responsible for the review of Commercial Real Estate appraisals for properties located nationwide. This role will support the bank's Chief Appraiser in assuring that policies and procedures are consistent with the Bank's appetite for risk and for compliance with various federal regulations.
We are looking for a person who is an industry expert and experienced with regulatory, compliance, policies and procedures, service, process improvement, product enhancement and development, vendor/contract relationships, and other areas related to appraisal order management and review. A successful candidate will possess an in-depth knowledge of all aspects of the appraisal processes, order management, problem solving skills, and the current regulatory environment. This position requires excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills to support the success of BNY Mellon's Commercial Real Estate lending business.
Qualifications :
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in real estate appraisal processes and review for commercial real estate properties nationwide required.
- New York State General Appraiser Certification License. Pennsylvania State General Appraiser Certification License a plus.
- Bachelors degree from an accredited college/university is required. Major concentrations in Real Estate, Business, Finance, Accounting, or Economics is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to write clearly and concisely; previous experience having given presentations, public speaking, or formal communications experience is a plus.
- Experience reviewing appraisals for Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) affordable housing.
- Experience reviewing Environmental Site Assessment reports a plus (Phase I/II, etc.)
- Strong proficiency with the following software:
- DCF software (Argus/Rockport VAL)
- CoStar/REIS
- Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, PowerPoint
- Appraisal-ordering-operating systems

Base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNYM total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and company- sponsored benefit programs.
BNY Mellon assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base salary for this position is expected to be between $66,000 and $120,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNYM total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs.
This position is at-will and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
