About this Role:

The Medi-Cal Eligibility Division (MCED) is responsible for the development, coordination, clarification, and implementation of Medi-Cal regulations, policy, and procedures to assure Medi-Cal eligibility is determined accurately and timely by the 58 county human services agencies. The Health Enrollment Navigators Section of the MCED supports California’s Medi-Cal redetermination and expansion goals and plays a critical role in helping thousands of individuals across California maintain or establish their Medi-Cal coverage.


Under close supervision of the Staff Services Manager I (SSM I) in the BCCTP Unit, the Student Assistant (SA) in a learning capacity will assist the Breast and Cervical Cancer Treatment Program (BCCTP) and Outreach and Enrollment (O&E) Unit. The SA will support management and analytical staff with reviewing and updating eligibility and business process manuals, web page content, researching member information, directing calls and voicemail to BCCTP staff, managing correspondence (incoming and outgoing mail, scanning, and filing), processing of routine data reports, and special projects. The SA will also assist in tasks for the O&E staff which consists of developing program web page material, updating manuals, filing records, scanning documents and electronically filing them, and routing incoming mail to the appropriate individual.


The SA conducts business activities in a professional manner that leads to superior customer satisfaction and delivers services that meet or exceed the member's expectations. The majority of the workload must be performed within the office, while some workload can be performed remotely via set remote work days.

Telework Information

Non-Exempt Positions:

This position may be eligible for telework up to three days per week and is required to report in-person and site-based a minimum of two days per week. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department and is subject to change consistent with DHCS’ Telework Program and Government Code sections 14200 – 14203. Telework is available to California residents, and proof of residency may be required.

Business travel may be required, and reimbursement considers an employee’s designated office and residence subject to regulations and bargaining unit contract provisions. All commute expenses to the reporting location will be the responsibility of the selected candidate.
