We are currently recruiting for a family who wishes to hire a full time Private Chef. This is a long term career opportunity supporting a San Francisco Family of four. The family is seeking a Private Chef whose emphasis is cooking Whole-Food, Plant-centric, Mediterranean diets with adequate protein from grass fed, wild caught and organic and locally sourced animal protein. The family seeks a chef who is happy and comfortable with preparing the food off-site and dropping it off for the employer to plate and serve themselves . The chef they seek should be familiar with nutritional and holistic health goals and work comfortably with the employers personal trainer.

The chef they hire should also enjoy and plan, coordinate, and oversee dinner parties and events. The chef will spend summers with the family in Maine (June, July, August) and travel a few weeks a year to Park City, Utah. The family is flexible on schedule, but work could include weekends and/or holidays, and the schedule would be mutually agreed upon at least two weeks in advance.

This is a full time position with a guarantee of compensation should the family travel and not require the chefs services while they are traveling.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

  • Plan creative healthy menus based on dietary needs and preferences of the family.
  • Measure, prepare, and package meals for principals based on specific macro/caloric needs. This includes breakfast, lunch, dinner, desserts and snacks.
  • Coordinate with the personal trainer to ensure health goals are met.
  • Shop for and/or order groceries, pantry staples, and kitchen supplies.
  • Establish connections with farmers in the Bay Area to obtain locally sourced organic produce and responsibly raised protein options, ensuring sustainability and humane practices.
  • Label meals properly so principals understand what they are eating.
  • Stock, organize, and clean kitchen, pantry and kitchen appliances.
  • Keep up with culinary trends and techniques, introduce family to new foods.
  • Plan, prepare, and serve food and beverages for family style dinners.
  • Manage server team for larger dinners and events.
  • Summer (June, July, August) at family residence in Maine. Standalone guest suite provided for staff housing.
  • Flexibility to travel several weeks a year with family (Deer Valley/Hawaii).
  • Other duties as needed.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Degree from recognized culinary program, or college degree/hospitality certifications specializing in hotel/restaurant management, or equivalent.

SKILLS & WORK ENVIRONMENTS

  • 7+ years combined experience at restaurants, catering and events, with 2+ years as a private chef within a family home.
  • Advanced knowledge of good practices within the food & beverage field, including, but not limited to, food safety protocols, food handling compliance, budgeting, inventory management, maintenance of equipment.
  • Experience in development and implementation of procurement strategies and inventory systems.
  • Ability to work effectively under time constraints and deadlines.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt communication style to suit different audiences, such as principals, co-workers, vendors, etc.
  • Must have an active CA driver’s license.

Compensation:

. $75 to $85 per hour… full time compensation range is$156,000 to $176,000 annually
