St. Anne’s Episcopal School, an independent Episcopal day school for students in preschool through grade 8, seeks an experienced and talented educator to serve in the role of Primary School Associate Teacher. Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Lead Teacher in fostering a warm, nurturing classroom atmosphere in which children feel comfortable, secure, and encouraged to experience new skills and discover a love of learning.
  • Assist in the Lead Teacher in providing a dynamic and engaging developmentally appropriate PreK4 curriculum and daily activities that meets the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical needs of primary students.
  • Commit to innovation and working collaboratively with colleagues as well as to fostering an inclusive and diverse learning environment. 
  • Embrace our Episcopal identity which embraces all faiths and backgrounds, and fosters a commitment to inclusion and belonging.
  • Commit to utilizing multiple learning environments, including outdoors.
  • Demonstrate a growth mindset and willingness to explore opportunities for professional growth and engagement in 21 st Century teaching strategies, developing professionally through further education, reading, workshops, and/or conferences
  • Reflect on one’s own teaching to help adapt lessons to meet different abilities and interests.
  • Collaborate with fellow colleagues to maintain continuity of curriculum across grade levels.
  • Demonstrate professionalism through reliability, participation in school obligations, and a respectful attitude in professional relationships.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Supervise students during arrival and dismissal
  • Attend specific school events/activities outside of the school day, including professional development and in-service sessions, and supervise as needed
  • Participate in curriculum development and serve on faculty committees 
  • Engage regularly in opportunities for professional growth and model a growth mindset
  • If possible, hold a Delaware Early Childhood State Preschool License.  If not, be willing to complete the necessary training to become certified. All expenses will be covered by SAES.

Qualifications: 

  • Experience working in an early childhood or elementary school setting preferred
  • Must be Delaware First certified as an Early Childhood Assistant Teacher or Teacher
  • Maintain credentials required for State preschool licensure
  • Maintain current CPR/AED/First Aid certifications

Physical Requirements : As an outdoor school, being outside and walking frequently are key components of the role. Candidates must regularly sit, turn, bend, reach, stand, walk, talk, and hear, as well as interact with campus visitors and others. The ability to understand and present materials and communicate harmoniously with constituents and co-workers is essential. Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
