Summary We seek a mission-minded individual committed to improving young children's and their families' lives while effectively teaching in our nursery (ages 3 and under) at City Schoolhouse. The Nursery / Toddler Teacher promotes the social, physical, intellectual, and spiritual growth of the children under their care and collaborates with staff to create an environment of joyful, exploratory learning. The teacher engages families in the learning process at home and in the classroom, coordinating curriculum and managing day-to-day classroom activities. The ideal candidate understands children's cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development to ensure a safe and stimulating environment where children are actively engaged and encouraged to succeed.

Duties Communication: - Monthly communication with families about upcoming plans.
- Weekly planning sessions with the Early Childhood Lead Teacher.
- Weekly written correspondence with parents regarding student progress by end of business on Fridays.
- Participation in weekly team meetings with fellow teachers.
- Monthly meetings with the Head of School.
- Communication with special educators and volunteers.
- Conduct bi-annual parent-teacher-student conferences.
- Provide lesson plans to Nursery/Toddler volunteers for each day.
Instruction: - Execute lesson plans using partial lectures and primarily hands-on, active learning approaches.
- Ensure learning is joyful and tailored to what students need and love.
- Possibly work with Early Childhood students (ages 3-6) during the week.
- Provide care including setting schedules, grooming, feeding, changing diapers, and cleaning.
- Develop and encourage age-appropriate learning and socialization.
- Maintain a safe environment by monitoring health, behavior, and emotional well-being.
- Introduce children to art, music, sports, and other interests.
- Guide positive behaviors and provide appropriate discipline as needed.
- Prepare children for the next level of care or entry into school.
- Keep records related to child care.
- Work with parents to help children achieve educational and behavioral goals.
Preparation: - Arrive at school no later than 8:00 AM and depart no earlier than 3:30 PM.
- Rotate classroom materials monthly to correspond with new teachings.
- Pre-read all materials assigned to students.
- Submit lesson plans at least one week in advance, broken down by schedule and topics.
- Complete one professional development reading per semester.
Classroom Care: - Create a clean, tidy, and inspiring learning environment.
- Ensure all materials are respected, cleaned, and well-maintained.
- Secure valuable materials by locking them away.
- Perform daily cleaning tasks including sweeping, vacuuming, wiping surfaces, cleaning bathrooms, and taking out trash.
Requirements Qualifications: - Minimum of 1 year of professional childcare experience.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Basic computer proficiency.
- High energy and ability to work well with others.
- Strong understanding of child development.
- Must clear a full background check and pass a health screening.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and engage in activities associated with that weight.
Physical Requirements: - Frequent walking, use of hands and fingers, handling objects, tools, or controls.
- Ability to talk to and hear voices at various levels.
- Required to kneel, bend, squat, or crawl.
- Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

Nice To Haves - CPR and First Aid certification for infants and children.
- Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field with a minimum of 30 ECE credits.
- Montessori and/or Reggio Emilia experience.
- Special education experience.
- Homeschooling experience.
Benefits - Salary range of $16?$20 per hour, based on experience.
- Full-time position starting at 32 hours per week.
- Childcare assistance or school-age enrollment available for employee's children as space allows.
