Salary Range: $95,000 - $115,000
Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated Non-QM Underwriter to join our TPO Division. In this role, you will play a crucial part in reviewing mortgage files to assess applicants' work history, credit history, and financial information to make informed loan decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough manual analysis of mortgage loan files to ensure compliance with company and investor guidelines, ensuring the salability of closed loans.
- Analyze loan risk and request additional documentation as needed.
- Review and evaluate loan conditions upon resubmission.
- Make eligibility decisions by approving or rejecting loans, documenting the loan file appropriately, and effectively communicating decisions to all relevant parties.
- Calculate borrowers' income and assess their ability to repay mortgage obligations.
- Ensure the accuracy of all gathered information, meet compliance standards, and align decisions with company policies and guidelines.
- Maintain service level and turnaround time standards.
- Respond promptly to audits and post-closing issues.
- Stay updated on Non-QM, TPO, and/or NDC guidelines and policies.
- Request exceptions and scenarios as needed.
- Submit initial files and conditions to investors when necessary, regularly checking the status of files for completion of exceptions and conditions.
- Mentor operations staff on underwriting deficiencies and calculation errors.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong math and critical thinking skills.
- Experience in financial analysis.
- Ability to analyze complex corporate tax returns.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Adaptability to technology and software.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Education and Experience:
- A minimum of 5 years of prior underwriting experience.
- Non-QM underwriting experience is preferred.
- A bachelor's degree is preferred.
