About Us
We're a leading secondary market investor specializing exclusively in Non-Qualified Mortgage (Non-QM) loans. Our focus on this space allows us to offer advanced Non-QM programs with a commitment to outstanding service and competitive pricing.
Our Third-Party Origination (TPO) division is growing, and we're looking to add a talented Non-QM Underwriter II or III to the team. This position is fully remote, with a minimum download speed of 50 Mbps required for optimal performance.
Role Overview
As a Non-QM Underwriter, you'll play a key role in evaluating mortgage loan applications, analyzing applicants' financial profiles, and making crucial loan eligibility decisions. This position requires a strong understanding of Non-QM guidelines and a keen eye for compliance, accuracy, and detail.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough manual analysis of mortgage loan files to ensure compliance with company and investor guidelines, enhancing the salability of closed loans.
- Analyze loan risks and request additional documentation when necessary.
- Review resubmitted loan conditions and make informed decisions on loan eligibility.
- Approve or deny loans, documenting decisions accurately and communicating them to relevant parties.
- Calculate borrowers' income and assess their capacity to repay the mortgage.
- Ensure information accuracy, compliance, and adherence to company policies.
- Meet company service-level standards and turnaround times.
- Address audits and post-closing issues promptly.
- Stay current with Non-QM, TPO, and NDC guidelines and policies.
- Submit initial files and conditions to investors as needed, and follow up on file statuses regularly.
- Mentor team members on underwriting standards and calculation methods.
- Perform additional related tasks as needed.
What You Bring
- Strong math and critical thinking skills.
- Experience in financial analysis.
- Ability to analyze complex corporate tax returns.
- Effective communication skills.
- Adaptability with technology and familiarity with Microsoft Office.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of underwriting experience.
- Non-QM underwriting experience preferred.
- Bachelor's Degree is a plus.
