Salary: $75K to $80K plus bonus
Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated Non-QM Junior Underwriter I to join our TPO Division. In this role, you will be responsible for reviewing mortgage files to assess applicants' work history, credit history, and financial information, ensuring that all requirements for loan decisions are met.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough manual analyses of mortgage loan files to ensure compliance with company and investor guidelines, facilitating the salability of closed loans.
- Analyze loan risks and request additional documentation as needed.
- Review resubmitted loan conditions and make eligibility decisions by approving or rejecting loans. Document your decisions appropriately and communicate them effectively to all relevant parties.
- Calculate borrowers' income and assess their ability to repay mortgage obligations.
- Ensure that all information gathered is accurate and compliant with established standards, aligning decisions with company policies and guidelines.
- Maintain service level and turn-time standards.
- Respond to audits and post-closing issues promptly.
- Stay informed about Non-QM, TPO, and NDC guidelines and policies.
- Request exceptions and scenarios as necessary.
- Submit initial files and conditions to investors when required, and regularly check file statuses for updates on exceptions and conditions cleared.
- Mentor operational staff on underwriting deficiencies and calculation errors.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills:
- Strong mathematical and critical thinking abilities
- Proficient in financial analysis
- Capable of analyzing complex corporate tax returns
- Excellent communication skills
- Adaptability to new technology
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Education and Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of prior underwriting experience
- Preferred experience in Non-QM underwriting
- Bachelor's degree preferred
