Salary: $75,000 - $80,000 plus bonus
Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated Non-QM Underwriter to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for reviewing mortgage files, assessing applicants' work and credit histories, and evaluating liabilities and assets as part of the loan decision-making process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough manual analysis of mortgage loan files to ensure compliance with company and investor guidelines, facilitating the salability of closed loans.
- Analyze loan risk and request additional documentation as necessary to make informed decisions.
- Review resubmitted loan conditions and determine eligibility by approving or rejecting loans, ensuring proper documentation and effective communication with all relevant parties.
- Calculate borrowers' income and assess their ability to repay mortgage obligations.
- Ensure all information is accurate, compliance standards are met, and decisions align with company policies and guidelines.
- Maintain service level and turn-time standards.
- Respond promptly to audits and post-closing issues.
- Stay updated on Non-QM, TPO, and/or NDC guidelines and policies.
- Request exceptions and scenarios as needed.
- Submit initial files and conditions to investors, regularly checking the status of files for completion.
- Mentor operations staff on underwriting best practices and calculation accuracy.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong math and critical thinking abilities.
- Proficient in financial analysis and the ability to analyze complex corporate tax returns.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Adaptability to new technology.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- 5+ years of prior underwriting experience; Non-QM underwriting experience preferred.
- Bachelor's degree is preferred.
