for a 50% time (20 hrs/wk) 9 month appointment
Schedule: M-F 9am-1pm
Overview: This position is with UMD
Transportation & Parking Services (TPS) within the division of Student Life. The person in this position is often the first point of contact
for visitors on the UMD Campus. They contribute to Transportation & Parking Services by assisting campus visitors, students, faculty and
staff with payment and enforcement questions within the visitor pay lot.
Duties: - As the lot attendant, you
will be the friendly face that assists customers as they arrive at UMD, setting the tone for their visit.
- Contribute to the TPS team
by assisting and working with individuals from multiple ethnic and cultural backgrounds (i.e. race, color, creed, religion, national origin,
sex, age, marital status, disability, public assistance status, veteran status, or sexual orientation).
- Assist customers with daily
multi space pay station credit card payments and/or Park Duluth mobile app payments. Cash is no longer accepted.
- Troubleshoot
mechanical and technological issues when necessary.
- Assess current lot signage on an ongoing basis. Make necessary recommendations
to provide the clearest most seamless user experience possible.
- Point of contact for PAVE mobility enforcement. This includes
working with the software, updating daily exception lists and communicating information between TPS & PAVE.
- Provide guidance for
best utilization of available parking spaces within the lot.
- Maintain cleanliness of booth, equipment, and structures. Office
condition is inside a small parking booth.
- Must be able to handle being outside with different weather conditions (e.g. rain, sun,
heat, cold, etc.)
- Must be self-motivated, yet also work well with a team.
- Generate and update google sheets for internal
departmental processes and additional projects as necessary.
- Report damage and/or abuse of parking privileges. Handle minor
complaints.
- Provide verbal directions and guidance to assist in navigating guests to campuswide locations.

Qualifications Requirements: - High school graduation or equivalent, with
one year retail experience working with the public and cash handling.
- Applicants must have good communication skills, and must be
able to follow written and oral instructions.
- A valid Minnesota driver's license is required.
