The Role: Lateral Associate - Government Contracts | Washington, D.C.

We are seeking highly skilled and motivated Government Contracts Associates to join a nationally recognized practice group in Washington, D.C. This is an exceptional opportunity to work on complex and high-profile government contracts matters, with exposure to a broad range of legal issues in this area.

Practice Expertise and Focus

This opportunity is with a leading firm known for its unparalleled expertise in government contracts law. The practice offers:

  • Litigation Support: Expertise in representing clients in government contracts disputes, including claims and cost disputes.
  • Corporate Transactions: Providing due diligence and structuring advice for mergers, acquisitions, and corporate transactions involving government contractors.
  • Compliance and Investigations: Navigating suspension and debarment issues, False Claims Act matters, and internal investigations.
  • Bid Protests: Counseling clients on strategies to maximize success in competitive bidding processes and representation in bid protests.

In this position, you will:

  • Advise clients on government contracts compliance, litigation, and transactional matters.
  • Represent clients in litigation involving government contract disputes, including claims and cost disputes.
  • Support corporate transactions by conducting due diligence and advising on structuring strategies for transactions involving government contractors.
  • Assist clients with suspension and debarment matters, False Claims Act investigations, and internal compliance reviews.
  • Develop tailored strategies for clients facing complex regulatory and compliance challenges.

Ideal Candidate Profile

We are looking for candidates who bring the following qualifications and attributes:

Experience and Expertise

  • Experience Level: Law school graduate from 2019 to 2021 with broad experience in government contracts law.
  • Subject Matter Expertise: Familiarity with litigating government contracts disputes , handling corporate transactions, and addressing compliance issues.
  • Preferred Experience: Knowledge of False Claims Act/internal investigations, suspension and debarment issues, and bid protests is beneficial but not required.

Educational Credentials

  • Juris Doctor (JD): Degree from a top-tier, accredited law school with excellent academic performance.
  • Bar Admission: Active membership in good standing or eligibility to waive into the D.C. Bar.

  • Legal Acumen: Expertise in government contracts law, including compliance and regulatory frameworks.
  • Litigation Skills: Strong ability to manage government contracts disputes and related litigation.
