Job Description

Schmidt Design Group, established in 1983, is a dynamic 35-person landscape architecture and planning firm with a broad range of public and private clientele. Our work is complex, impactful, fast-paced, rewarding, and has been recognized with over 200 local, state, and national awards for design and technical excellence. Our work is also highly diverse including public parks and open spaces, urban design, hospitality, health care, multi-family and mixed-use developments, master-planned communities, K-12, and higher education.

We have an immediate opening to fill a Landscape Designer position in our San Diego office. The ideal candidate is a motivated, passionate, articulate, and inquisitive designer who thrives in a team setting. Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture and 1-3 years of experience in a landscape architectural firm. Proficiency with AutoCAD is required and a working knowledge of Land FX is preferred. Other software skills utilized in the office include: SketchUp, Enscape, Adobe Suite, and Microsoft Office Suite.

Our office, located in the Point Loma area of San Diego, is family-oriented with flex schedules and a collaborative work environment. The office is a short two block walk from the San Diego Bay waterfront. The firm offers a hybrid work environment including the flexibility to work from home 2 days a week after ninety days of employment. Work hours may include 9-hour days with every other Friday off.

Salary is commensurate with experience and includes a competitive compensation package including vacation and holidays, paid personal time off, paid volunteer time off, medical and dental insurance, 401(k) plan with match, annual profit-sharing, paid licensure, and other excellent benefits. Hourly compensation may range between $28.00-$35.00/hour.
