Jumbo Underwriter
We are looking for a dedicated Jumbo Underwriter to join our team! In this role, you will play a crucial part in analyzing and evaluating residential loan applications, ensuring they align with investor, agency, and internal guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Detailed Analysis: Conduct thorough and accurate evaluations of loan documents, including AUS decision reports, credit reports, various sources of income (including complex personal and business tax returns), assets, preliminary title reports, appraisals, purchase agreements, escrow instructions, occupancy verification, and fraud checks.
- Complex Tax Knowledge: Utilize extensive knowledge of complex tax returns involving multiple businesses and financed properties to make informed decisions.
- Guideline Management: Navigate multiple investor guidelines, with a strong understanding of Appendix Q.
- Data Management: Input data into DU/LP and run final AUS while maintaining quality and production standards set by management.
- Underwriting Files: Underwrite loan files and clear conditions with meticulous attention to detail and urgency for our customers.
- Compliance Assurance: Review transaction matrices, internal, and investor overlays to ensure compliance with investor guidelines.
- Fraud Detection: Implement and enforce fraud detection techniques, requesting supplemental information or documentation as needed.
- Risk Assessment: Recognize risk factors that may impact the overall quality of loan files.
- Issue Resolution: Assist the post-closing department in addressing any outstanding conditions or concerns, aiding in the resolution of pre-funding or post-purchase loan deficiencies.
- Effective Communication: Clearly communicate loan decisions orally and via email in a professional and positive manner, fostering strong relationships with co-workers and customers.
- Customer Service: Maintain consistent communication with brokers and sales staff, answering questions promptly and demonstrating exceptional customer service skills.
Professional Experience, Education, and Qualifications:
- A minimum of 4 years of recent underwriting experience with all Conventional loan products, with knowledge of updated guidelines, policies, and procedures within the last 6-9 months.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment while ensuring high-quality output.
- In-depth understanding of FNMA/FHLMC and investor guidelines.
- Strong attention to detail, along with excellent organizational and communication skills, both verbal and written.
