Job Summary

*This is a temporary, unclassified position with an anticipated end date of 06/30/2026*

Direct Care and Treatment (DCT) is seeking an individual to join our Investigator Team for an exciting and rewarding opportunity as a temporary Investigator! This position acts within DCT to investigate suspected rule and statutory violations. They will identify, gather, and disseminate information collected and documented by the Office of Special Investigations (OSI). The information is disseminated to Program and Agency administrators for the purpose of protecting the safety and security of clients, staff, and the public. Information gathered by the Data Collection Specialist will allow administrators to make informed decisions regarding the activities occurring in their programs. The Data Collection Specialist will assist the OSI Director or designee with all intelligence initiatives.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Conduct monitoring support services (i.e. – phone, mail, and video monitoring)
  • Gather information for intelligence and criminal investigations.
  • Collect data from various systems and review for relevancy, reliability, and validity.
  • Write reports with great accuracy, with the results of their investigation as well as prepare oral presentations of the work completed. Respond to emergent situations within programs and facilities to provide monitoring support.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

One (1) year of experience conducting reviews of suspected rule or statutory violations that demonstrates the following:

  • Experience conducting phone monitoring, mail monitoring, and video monitoring.
  • Experience collecting and reviewing information from a variety of systems.
  • Experience preparing written reports and oral presentations.
  • Experience using databases to effectively capture intelligence information.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in law enforcement, corrections, criminology, sociology, or related field.
  • Knowledge and application of Minnesota state statutes, federal law, client rights as related to civil commitment.
  • Experience working within secure environments.
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications (i.e.: Word, Excel, Power Point, Access)
