Interim Inpatient Nurse Manager- Children's Psych
American Consultants is looking for an Interim Inpatient Nurse Manager for a facility in their children's psych unit.
The Nurse Manager (NM) actualizes the vision, mission and values for the facility and maintains standards of the practice for nursing as defined by the American Nurses Association, Code of Ethics, Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice and Nursing’s social Policy Statement.
The Nurse Manager participates in performance improvement/research activities; maintains professional practice standards and clinical expertise; and demonstrates leadership skills. The Nurse Manager demonstrates core and unit specific competencies based on the patient population served.
This position is accountable for maintaining all clinical administrative functions (patient care delivery, fiscal, material, and human resources) of nursing unit(s) on a 24-hour basis. The position is responsible to create an environment in which autonomy is nurtured, encouraged, and reflected in a highly competent workforce capable of providing quality care. Professional interdisciplinary collaboration, communication and teamwork enacted enable care delivery to the customers and community to improve health and wellness. The position is responsible to uphold compliance with policies/procedures, service excellence standards and regulatory requirements.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT(S):
Education: Currently licensed in New York State as a Registered Nurse and a graduate of an approved school of nursing.
A Bachelor of Science in Nursing is required, MSN preferred or in progress.
Experience: 1 year experience in psychiatric nursing services required. 3-5 years acute care experience of patients with mental illness preferred.
Excellent interpersonal relationships, effective communication skills, (written, oral and interpersonal) ability to problem solve, ability to motivate, develop and coach individuals and groups, ability to appropriately confront issues, and ability to think creatively. A strong commitment to furthering institutional performance measures through interdisciplinary teamwork is essential.
Exposure to certain hazards involved, such as blood and body fluids, chemical agents, medications, and radiation. Knowledge of material safety data sheets and hazard drug list required.
