Job Description

The Governments Grant Manager is responsible for identifying, securing, and managing financial resources from government agencies, including federal, state, and local government sources. Works collaboratively with Program Directors, accounting, and senior leadership to ensure adherence to funding regulations. Responsible for expanding the organization s government funding support, the Grants Manager will identify new funding opportunities and strengthen relationships with current program officers. The position reports to the Development Director.

Responsibilities
Job responsibilities include:
  • Manage all aspects of government grants fundraising and administration, including serving as primary manager on all government grant portals (including grants.gov, SAM.gov, FedConnect, etc), updating a master grant reporting calendar and other grant tracking tools, and liaising with finance staff to track spending and financial compliance.
  • Identify and research government funding opportunities relevant to SUN s work, brief staff on opportunities, and manage the grant application process, including writing and/or editing proposals and ensuring that all internal and external deadlines are met and proposal components are being addressed by relevant staff.
  • Act as project lead with key program, finance, and operations staff at SUN to meet requirements and provide timely responses to requests from government agencies during pre- and post-award phases.
  • Manage workflow to measure progress toward deliverables and meet reporting requirements and demonstrate impact.
  • Track and flag new organizational compliance requirements for COO/relevant staff and maintain appropriate files for each grant as specified by grant agreements, from initial project assessment to final reporting.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing multiple government grant awards and applications, including Federal grant writing experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to complete high quality work independently as well as be a contributing or leading member of a team.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to stay on top of multiple projects, anticipate obstacles, and involve stakeholders when needed.
  • Excellent attention to detail to develop applications, budgets, and reports in compliance with stringent government instructions and regulations.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and perform to a high quality of work.
  • Familiarity with developing and reviewing programmatic budgets.
  • Research skills needed to identify government grant opportunities and identify most strategic.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Dropbox, and Google Suite.
  • Commitment to achieving a just and equitable transition to clean energy.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with the relevant specific agencies, grant programs, portals.
  • Experience fundraising from other sources.
  • Direct experience in solar or energy transition work.
  • Experience with Salesforce, EveryAction/Bonterra, and iWave.
  • Experience with Slack and Asana.
