The Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office is looking for someone to join our team taking fingerprints. The person will meet with members of the public in the lobby of the Sheriff’s Office to take their fingerprints. This is a long-term position and the selected candidate may choose a two-day work week or a three-day work week to be scheduled between Tuesday - Thursday -from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
The Fingerprint Technician performs fingerprinting, data-entry and clerical duties, as well as customer service to employees and members of the public. Responsibilities include performing fingerprinting operations via LIVESCAN equipment, as well as receiving and processing vouchers for fingerprinting services.
No experience necessary, we will train!

How You Will Make an Impact
Fingerprint members of the public, and County, City and State employees through automated fingerprinting operations using LIVESCAN. Ensure all fingerprints are clear and identifiable.
Provide information and customer service to members of the public and employees. Receive, account, and document vouchers received for fingerprinting services. Perform data entry, recordkeeping functions and personal computer operations.
Work environment notations:
Customers are scheduled in 15 minute increments to help prevent congestion in the lobby.
Employee will be in very close proximity to the customer including holding their fingers to roll the prints.
Hand sanitizer and disinfectant supplies are readily available for use.
What You Need to Succeed in this Role
High school diploma or GED plus one year of clerical and customer service experience. Must successfully complete pre-employment background process. Must be able to stand and walk in the lobby for the majority of the shift. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing and to establish effective working relationships with co-workers, other agencies, and the public. Ability to maintain professional appearance and demeanor.
