Your role and responsibilities In this role, you will have the opportunity to act as an authority for testing and verification activities. Each day, you will facilitate completion of testing activities efficiently, timely, cost-effectively, and in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards, safety requirements, and cybersecurity policies and standards. You will also showcase your expertise by providing feedback for the design process from the testing perspective. The work model for the role is: onsite This role is contributing to the Electrification Smart Power division in North America. You will be mainly accountable for: • Designing & maintaining electrical/infrastructure systems for ABB Power Protection business: systems include high power 3-phase AC power distribution in a testing environment, cooling, safety/fire protection and other building support systems. • Coordinating technical project requirements with project team members, including internal stakeholders, contractors, code officials, utility companies, and project managers. • Designing power distribution systems, including panelboards, switchboards, overcurrent protection, transformers, disconnect switches, conductors, raceway, wiring devices, generators, etc. • Supporting review of construction documents - driving consistency of standards, challenging assumptions, and driving best practices. Writing RFP specifications and procedures for electrical and electromechanical assemblies.
Qualifications for the role - B.S. in Electrical Engineering with 2 to 5 years of relevant work experience.
- Strong knowledge of applicable codes and standards, including but not limited to the NEC (National Electrical Code), NFPA 101 Life Safety Code, NFPA 72 (National Fire Alarm Code), building codes, energy codes, etc.
- Proficient in construction administration tasks such as reviewing product submittals and shop drawings, responding to Requests for Information (RFI's), inspecting projects at various stages of construction, and providing field reports.
- Strong AutoCAD drafting and Microsoft Office proficiency required.
- Experience with SKM or similar electrical modeling software is a plus.
- Proficiency in REVIT MEP and Project management a plus.
- Able to read and interpret mechanical drawings and detailed electrical schematics.
- Professional Engineering licensure in VA a plus
- Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
