Commercial Truck Driver – Class A CDL _Pneumatic/Vacuum Truck Operator

Summary:
The Commercial Driver – Vacuum / Pneumatic Operator has dual responsibility, that of Class A driver and a Vacuum / Pneumatic Operator. As a Commercial driver (CDL A) this position ensures safe and efficient operation of tractor-trailer, box truck, or semi-truck(s) interstate and/or intrastate to various customer locations. At the designated customer sites, the Commercial Driver-Vacuum / Pneumatic Operator will connect/set-up/disconnect hoses and equipment at various locations. This may include manually attaching manifold, hose and pneumatically conveying material to various locations; Set up, operate, or tend continuous flow to silo type equipment; always, this position will adhere to FMCSA/DOT/ICC safety regulations, USADebusk safety protocols and will ensure to build relationships with each customer by demonstrating a friendly attitude, and become familiar with the customers operations to meet needs and expectations
Requirements/Experience:
- Must possess a valid Class A CDL.
- Must possess a valid TWIC card.
- Must have one (1) years' experience behind an 18-wheeler tractor/trailer.
- Must possess a valid Class A CDL with Tanker and Airbrake endorsements.
- Must have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) from all states licensed in.
- Must be at least 21 years of age (DOT requirement for interstate operation).
- Must pass pre-employment background check, DOT medical certification, drug & alcohol tests.
- Must pass DOT random drug & alcohol testing.
- Must pass ADS road test.
- Proficiency in operating 13, 10-speed and automatic transmission.
- Wear common protective or safety equipment such as Safety Shoes, Glasses, Gloves, Hearing Protection, and/or Hard Hats.
- Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Good communication skills.
- Provide a positive attitude and exceptional customer service skills.
- Flexible to work OT, weekends and holidays as needed.
- Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
- Legal to work for any employer in the USA.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Responsible for driving a tractor trailer or straight truck intrastate and/or interstate on local, over-the-road (OTR), and/or overnight routes to customers according to a predetermined project schedule(s).
- Perform all required safety checks (i.e., pre/post trip) including inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and take appropriate action as needed. Follow all DOT and company safe driving guidelines and policies.
- Report all incidents, safety issues and/or repairs as required.
- Follow and commit to meet Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) for safety, quality, production, efficiency, and service requirements.
- Follow practices and processes intended to provide safe products that comply with appropriate laws and regulations, meet the company quality standards.
- Operate a tractor with trailer inter/intrastate to pick up and/or deliver merchandise.
- Drive diesel or gas tractors in accordance with commercial driving regulations of State Department of Transportation (DOT), US DOT, and the Interstate Commerce Commission (ICC).
- Couple, uncouple, connect airlines, etc. and maneuver equipment in difficult situations such as narrow passageways and within urban areas.
- Conduct visual inspections of tractor and trailer to complete pre/post trip inspections and perform preventative maintenance checks and services of truck and trailer. Report any malfunctions to supervisor and maintenance staff.
- Operate Electronic Log Device (ELD), ELD software, and maintain records per local, state, and federal regulations, DOT’s, and ICC’s laws as necessary.
- Ensure possession of all appropriate documentation, including registration and vehicle inspection reports.
- Submit to random drug test as prescribed by various consortiums and DOT regulations.
- Inspect and ensure that tractor and trailer/freight are properly loaded, locked, and secured at all times.
- Perform count checks and review customer invoices. Complete in an accurate and legible fashion all required paperwork associated with freight.
- Perform damage control checks and remove/reload orders according to company policy.
- Verify delivery of items with customer and obtain proper signatures.
- Unload damaged goods and customer returns, bring to the driver check-in and complete necessary paperwork.
- Maintain a clean and organized tractor and trailer. Unload all equipment, materials and remove all trash as required.
- Load or unload materials into containers or onto trucks, using hoses, pumps.
- Remove or limit contamination following emergencies involving hazardous substances.
- Sort specialized hazardous waste at landfills or disposal centers, following proper disposal procedures.
- Comply with prescribed safety procedures or federal laws regulating waste disposal methods.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands:
- Touch freight – may need to lift, push, or move equipment weighing an average of 40-60 pounds and as much as 100 pounds.
- Physical requirements include but are not limited to prolonged sitting (driving), standing, walking, reaching, lifting, pushing, pulling at various heights, and lifting.
