Job Description

We are currently seeking an experienced, engaging college counselor with strong essay editing skills to join our team. This person will report directly to the company owner, and will primarily work as a supplemental counselor for the owner's clients.

Position Description

The Counseling Coordinator will report to the Counseling Managers and company Owner, contributing to research projects assigned in accordance with parameters set for scope, deadline, and amount of time approved per project. The Counseling Coordinator will support the Counseling Managers and company Owner with administrative work, including but not limited to counseling platform audits, tracking responses to staff requests, data compilation, professional development assistance, and webinars. The Counseling Coordinator will also provide essay editing support and assist in tracking student progress, deadlines, and deliverables related to the college admissions process.

They will facilitate communication between counselors and families to ensure timely updates and responses and assist in organizing and executing projects related to student advising, application reviews, and college readiness initiatives. While this is a part-time job, we are looking for team members who are willing to provide full dedication to their clients during the times they are available.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, counseling, or a related field from a Top 50 school.
  • 1-3 years of experience in academic advising, college counseling, or administrative support within an educational setting.
  • Ability to make multi-year commitments to their students.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated, incredibly detail-oriented, and extremely comfortable multitasking.
  • Familiarity with US colleges and universities (requirements, programs, the "feel" of the schools, size, location), as well as familiarity with niche opportunities and programs.
  • Solid grasp of what universities are looking for in application components such as extracurriculars, personal statements/essays, and interviews.
  • Creative and technical ability to help students brainstorm for, outline, write, and edit dozens of college essays while maintaining the voice of the student.
  • Ability to help students with meaningful summer plans by applying to internships and exploring competitions, research opportunities, and community service options.
  • Proactively problem-solve and manage client concerns with ease, professionalism, and promptness.
  • Availability after school and on weekends.
  • Dedicated, quiet home workspace with reliable internet access for virtual sessions.
  • Willingness to display professional headshot and bio on the company website.

Compensation & Additional Details

  • This is a part-time, non-exempt (20-25 hours per week) position with a starting rate of $50 per hour with the opportunity to participate in referral and bonus programs.
