Job Description
You will have the rewarding responsibility of supporting students in middle school (grades 6-8) and high school (grades 9-12). Working closely with a collaborative team, you will manage a caseload of students, tailor lesson plans to meet individual needs, and help students achieve their academic goals in a supportive and engaging online environment. You will also play a key role in fostering a positive, inclusive classroom that accommodates students with a range of abilities and learning needs, including those on the autism spectrum and with other related disorders.
Key Responsibilities:
Instructional Support: Deliver personalized and effective instruction to students, ensuring lessons align with curriculum and IEP goals.
Lesson Planning & Curriculum Development: Create and implement weekly lesson plans that meet the diverse needs of students, using available curriculum resources.
Data-Driven Decisions: Regularly analyze student performance data and adjust instruction accordingly to support continuous student growth.
Student & Family Communication: Maintain open lines of communication with students and their families, providing updates on progress and offering support when needed.
IEP Development & Implementation: Develop and monitor Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for students, ensuring that they are tailored to the specific needs of each learner.
Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues to plan and deliver effective instruction, share feedback, and contribute to a positive and collaborative school environment.
Professional Development: Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities, including workshops and classroom coaching, to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.
Classroom Management: Manage and oversee a student caseload, ensuring that all students are engaged, supported, and making progress.
Additional Responsibilities: Support substitute plans in case of absence, and participate in other faculty duties as necessary.
Desired Qualifications:
Experience teaching students with disabilities in an online classroom setting.
At least 3 years of experience working with students with moderate to severe disabilities.
Familiarity with or training in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) strategies is preferred.
A passion for working with students with special needs, including those on the autism spectrum.
Required Qualifications:
Must be a resident of Arizona.
Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
Valid Special Education Teaching Certification.
Bachelor's degree or higher.
Physical and Environmental Requirements:
Physical Demands: This role involves some physical activity, including occasional stooping, crouching, standing, walking, and the ability to perform repetitive motions.
Light Work Requirements: Ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and up to 10 pounds frequently, with a negligible amount of force consistently required to move objects.
Work Environment: This position is typically performed in a comfortable, indoor online classroom setting.
