Job Summary: Financial Analyst supports the President & CEO- BD&I in investing activities of SSIH in outside companies and growing and developing those companies is the primary activity and mission of SSIH. Developing theses supported by quantitative and qualitative models and communicating findings in convincing formats is key to not only identifying and justifying an investment internally but also to identify and justify benefits to a prospective acquisition. However, the emphasis is not on analytics, but on synthesis and communication. This role must develop many outside relationships, strong communication skills, supported by good analytics and thoughtful strategies (i.e., theses).
Essential Responsibilities: • Conducts research and analysis covering electric power equipment and services markets, including coverage of megatrends, technology advancements, investment metrics, and relevant legislative structure and trends.
• Utilizes the internet, newspapers, academic white papers, public and private company research notes, economic indicator forecasts, and more to inform and develop actionable analysis.
• Identifies and evaluates potential investments fitting in SSIH’s vision and strategies for review by the CEO
• Assists across all stages of deal execution from sourcing of new deals, preparation of investment memos and other due diligence, through to reporting existing successful exit opportunities.
• Uses financial models and market research to assess the viability and growth potential of companies
• Supports SSIH investment decisions through financial modeling and business development
• Develops and manages relationships with industry professionals to help support primary research efforts
• Understands the business need behind an initiative and where it fits into the organization’s overall goal/vision/ objective.
• Performs Business Analysis Planning and Estimation to determine valuations, return on investment, strategic fit, competitive advantage, etc.
• Works on multiple projects simultaneously while doing the required justice to each of them.
Minimum skills and qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in relevant field such as engineering, computer science or business
• Strong understanding of financial concepts such as valuation techniques, cap tables, internal rate of return, portfolio management, and more
• 2+ years of experience in a similar role, ideally at a venture capital firm, investment banking, private equity
• Detail-oriented with an analytical mindset
Ability to think creatively and strategically
Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite including in-depth knowledge of Outlook, Word, and Excel with the ability to pick up new systems and software easily
Preferred skills and qualifications: • Advanced degree – MBA
• Strong financial analysis and financial modeling skills
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written
