Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Behavioral Health Counselor to provide direct care and support to clients and families. This role involves working collaboratively with a treatment team to develop and implement effective plans that help individuals achieve their mental health and wellness goals. You will work closely with a Clinical Supervisor to ensure quality care and have opportunities for growth in a flexible and supportive environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide direct care to clients or families as part of an assigned caseload, under the clinical supervision of a Clinical Supervisor.
- Offer Community Psychiatric Supportive Treatment (CPST) services in line with the client's treatment plan.
- Participate in treatment planning and discharge planning activities, ensuring the client's needs are prioritized.
- Serve as an advocate for clients, ensuring their voice is heard in all treatment decisions.
- Assist in updating treatment plans and providing progress summaries for clients.
- Provide appropriate interventions as part of the prescribed treatment plan.
- Attend team meetings to discuss treatment goals and progress for your assigned caseload.
- Collect and report relevant data, sharing findings with the necessary team members.
- Complete and submit accurate progress summaries and documentation related to the clients' treatment.
- Assist in discharge planning when appropriate.
Administrative Responsibilities:
- Write clear, accurate, and detailed progress notes and other necessary documentation related to the services provided.
- Submit weekly paperwork in a timely manner prior to clinical supervision sessions.
- Attend required training sessions and meetings to maintain up-to-date knowledge and skills.
Qualifications:
- A Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, Sociology, or Psychology is required.
- Provisionally licensed under a state board (PLPC, PLMFT, CSW, or LMSW).
- Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to work independently.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage a flexible schedule with minimal supervision and handle multiple tasks efficiently.
- Ability to meet deadlines for documentation and reporting.
- Adhere to confidentiality, ethical standards, and agency policies.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Ability to obtain CPR certification within 45 days of hire.
Training and Support:
- Bi-monthly supervision to support your growth and development.
Working Conditions:
- Primarily community-based work, including required travel to client homes.
- Telehealth service delivery is an approved method.
Position Type:
- Contract position (1099), with guaranteed weekly hours (20-32 hours per week).
Compensation:
- Part-time (20 hours per week) or Full-time (32 hours per week)
- If minimum hours are not met, payment will be calculated based on an hourly rate (timesheet will be generated using the progress note entries in the EHR system).
Performance Expectations:
- Review of performance every 365 days.
- Maintain at least 20/32 contact hours per week.
- Submit progress notes on time and with accuracy.
- Be punctual for scheduled supervision sessions.
- Submit required paperwork at least 24 hours prior to supervision.
- Effectively manage caseload and schedule.
- Adhere to agency policies and procedures.
