Job Description

Automotive Packaging: Senior Heavy Equipment Design/Packaging Engineer

 

We are seeking an experienced Senior Design and Packaging Engineer for a leadership role in Automotive Packaging . This position focuses on creating custom solutions for automotive systems, with an emphasis on heavy equipment and material handling. The ideal candidate will demonstrate innovative thinking, proactive problem-solving, and a strong engineering background, along with leadership skills. Some travel will be required to engage with clients and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead automotive packaging design projects, focusing on heavy equipment and material handling for automotive clients.
  • Use 3D CAD software (SolidWorks) to design packaging solutions and product enhancements.
  • Conduct engineering analyses to ensure packaging designs are durable, cost-effective, and production-ready.
  • Manage design costs while maintaining high quality and innovation in automotive packaging.
  • Develop detailed Bills of Materials (BOMs) for packaging production.
  • Create technical specifications and select materials/components suitable for automotive applications.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to source optimal off-the-shelf packaging components.
  • Oversee prototype builds, assembly, and testing of automotive packaging solutions.
  • Address and resolve field issues with effective, engineered packaging solutions.
  • Present designs to diverse audiences and update models based on feedback.
  • Stay current on automotive packaging trends to ensure innovative, cutting-edge designs.
  • Uphold the highest standards of quality and compliance in automotive packaging.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of automotive packaging or heavy equipment design experience, with a portfolio demonstrating expertise.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling (SolidWorks or Solid Edge).
  • Familiarity with MS Office and other design software.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
